Overview

Monte Rosa Therapeutics, an industry leader in targeted protein degradation (TPD), is seeking a passionate intern in Cell Biology to help us eliminate disease-causing proteins that were previously considered undruggable through our novel and exciting TPD platform. You will work closely with experienced scientists who will direct and mentor you on your project, while also exposing you to other drug discovery projects and involving you in solving complex biological questions. You will be joining a diverse, thoughtful, fun and collaborative environment that emphasizes teamwork and putting people first! This role is slated for a September 2026 or sonner start.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate innovative cellular assays to measure proximity of E3 ligases to target proteins and enhance the company’s technology portfolio
  • Design and implement assay optimization strategies to maximize signal intensity, specificity, robustness and reproducibility
  • Collect, analyze and interpret dose response / screening data, formulate scientific hypotheses to iteratively identify and modify critical assay parameters
  • Collaborate with different functions within the company, attend and present your data at team and project meetings
  • All learnings will be applied to our Discovery pipeline for the identification of novel degraders for highly relevant targets

Qualifications

  • Our preference is for a student currently enrolled, or having recently completed, a master’s degree program in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a similar life science field
  • Previous experience with mammalian cell culture and working in a sterile environment is essential
  • Know-how in conventional cell biology and molecular biology techniques (e.g. plasmid transfection, immunoassays, viability assays, cloning and sequencing)
  • Experience in microplate-based cellular assays and lab automation (e.g. liquid handlers) is a plus
  • Familiarity with protein proximity assays (e.g. Split-protein systems / protein-fragment complementation, NanoBRET, NanoBiT, proximity labeling, etc) is an advantage, but not required
  • You are a fast learner and enjoy working in a team-based environment
