Monte Rosa Therapeutics is looking for an experienced, energetic, and self-motivated Scientist to join our Biomarker team in Basel. This Scientist will conduct well-designed and reliably executed experiments in the lab as well as monitoring of outsourced activities that are aimed at assessing preclinical, translational and clinical samples. The individual will work in close collaboration with project and clinical teams to develop biomarker assays, implement internal and external biomarker activities, and perform studies to support indication/patient selection opportunities. Support the development of biomarker plans, integrate translational research to support indication selection and develop and implement clinically relevant biomarkers.
• Contribute with scientific, technical and operational support for preclinical, translational and clinical stage immunology and oncology programs for the discovery, development, validation, and implementation of relevant biomarkers focused on mechanism of action, target engagement, PK/PD/efficacy relationships and patient/indication selection
• Collaborate cross-functionally (e.g., target biology, translational research, data science, nonclinical and clinical development) to ensure successful selection, implementation and execution of translational research and clinically relevant biomarker assays and plans
• Support the preclinical identification of candidate biomarkers and the review of their usefulness for clinical development
• Development, validation and implementation of molecular and cellular-based assays to support biomarker testing in translational research and clinical trials
• Independently design and execute experiments, interpret, present and report of assigned projects
• Ensure high quality biomarker data delivered timely for key decision taking
• Support identification and development of novel biomarker assays/platforms to support biomarker innovation
• Oversight and manage outsourcing of biomarker assays at Contract Research Organizations (CROs) including assay development, validation, transfer, sample processing and data generation of biomarker assays for use in human studies
• Development of Best Practices, SOPS, process, templates, study plans, validation reports and other relevant documentation
• Maintain laboratory instruments, reagents, consumables, and other routine laboratory tasks
• MS 10+ years, PhD 2+ years hands-on experience in Immunology drug discovery research in an industrial, independently developing, validating, and executing biomarker assays for preclinical, translational and clinical samples
• Extensive knowledge and practical experience in various laboratory techniques including but not limited to flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD, Nanostring, qPCR and human whole blood assays
• Working experience with spatial omics technologies is a plus
• Prior experience in working with human, murine and cyno samples
• Prior experience in working with CROs such as central labs and specialty labs in support of biomarker activities
• Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to learn a variety of new techniques and biological approaches; ability to work in a matrixed team and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines in a biotech environment
• Working experience in a GxP environment in support of clinical development projects
