Overview

Monte Rosa Therapeutics is seeking a European Patent Attorney to manage its patent portfolio, protect innovations, and contribute to global intellectual property strategy, particularly in relation to small molecule chemistry. The role involves drafting and prosecuting chemical and pharmaceutical patent applications globally, providing IP legal support across departments, and collaborating with external counsel and partners. Candidates should have an advanced degree in chemistry, admission to practice as a European Patent Attorney, at least five years of pharmaceutical patent law experience, and expertise in the drafting and prosecution of small molecule patent applications.

Responsibilities

• Working with in-house and contract research scientists in the identification of inventions and the preparation of patent applications
• Drafting of patent applications for chemical and pharmaceutical subject matters
• Global prosecution of patent families across the company patent portfolio
• Direct prosecution of European patent applications at the European Patent Office
• Working with outside patent counsel for the prosecution of ex-EP patent applications
• Provide intellectual property law support to legal and contracting team
• Working with Company VP IP to provide counsel to management and directors in the field of intellectual property law as it relates to pharmaceutical R&D
• Provide intellectual property law support for company business development and due diligence activities
• Provide support to external corporate partnerships and collaborations
• Provision of intellectual property and trade secret best practices to company personnel

Qualifications

  • Technical degree (B.Sc. or higher) in relevant subject (Chemistry or Biochemistry) and admission to practice as a European Patent Attorney
  • At least 5 years of professional Patent /IP law experience working in the pharmaceutical small molecule chemistry space
  • Significant drafting and prosecution experience of chemical and pharmaceutical subject-matter patent applications either in-house or in a private law firm setting
  • High level proficiency in both spoken and written English
