Overview

Monte Rosa Therapeutics is looking for an energetic and self-motivated Discovery Immunologist who will join our Boston based, Immunology & inflammation discovery biology team . Will be responsible for leveraging our novel platform to develop first-in-class medicines and new chemical modalities This role includes both strategic scientific thinking & hands on bench-work.  The candidate will make critical contributions to target identification & validation, progression & translational application of molecular glue degraders for immunology-related targets. The ideal candidate brings expertise in immunology, development of assays to test immune cell functions, translational application and a background in industrial small molecule drug discovery. 

Responsibilities

  • Review potential targets identified by our platform for therapeutic potential in non-oncology -related diseases with emphasis on autoinflammatory/immunology diseases
  • Devise & implement biology strategy to drive target progression towards strategic milestones (biology program leadership)
  • Develop relevant assays to determine downstream effects of target degradation (e.g. signaling, viability, cytokine secretion, function) & link phenotypes with disease biology
  • Interpret, present and report research findings at internal meetings and external scientific conferences in relevant context
  • Work collaboratively in a cross-functional team (e.g. chemistry, proteomics, data science, discovery sciences, animal care facility)

Qualifications

  • PhD or Postdoc equivalent in Immunology with 5+ years hands-on experience in drug discovery research in an industrial setting
  • Project lead experience and/or driving preclinical immunology-related targets towards milestones
  • Strong understanding of key drivers of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases & passion for science and innovation
  • Proficient in immune cell isolation and multi-parameter flow cytometry
  • Extensive technical expertise in primary immune cell functional assay development
  • Experience with a variety of molecular & cell biology methods and assays such as western blotting, JESS/WES, ELISA, qRT-PCR, CRISPr/shRNA, cytokine secretion, transcriptomics
  • Ability to implement and/or oversee in vivo and ex vivo murine studies
  • Experience with external CROs to support project progression and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, action-oriented, cross-functional team environment
  • Experience managing and mentoring direct reports
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate scientific results and implications in a concise and context-dependent manner
  • Excellent organizational & time management skills with flexibility to accommodate rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
  • Protein degradation experience is a plus
