Overview

Monte Rosa Therapeutics is searching for a Sr Research Associate - In Vivo on a 6-month contract to assist to in executing pivotal proof-of-concept studies in pre-clinical models in mice of inflammation, immunology, and oncology, and assist in the cross-functional development of our research strategy. The role involves interacting with team members to design and execute in vivo/ex vivo pharmacology studies aimed at defining the activity and mechanism of action of compounds. This person will work primarily in our Animal Care Facility, ideally 11am-7pm, to oversee and perform afternoon/evening and weekend dosing of animals as part of study protocols. This role will have the opportunity to expand their skill set at the lab bench by performing a variety of ex vivo/in vitro experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic and intermediate veterinary technical tasks in mice independently, including the following:
  • Administration of selected agents by PO, IP, SC routes.
  • Blood sampling techniques via multiple routes, including submandibular bleed.
  • Carry out tissue harvests at later time points based on study requirements.
  • Preparation of compound formulation for in vivo
  • Optimize and perform studies to define target biology in mouse models of inflammation, oncology and immunity for in vivo, in vitro and ex vivo
  • Oversee breeding programs, including monitoring litters and documenting outcomes.
  • Assist with cage changes and husbandry tasks as needed.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records/notebooks, procedures, and data summaries.
  • Perform evening and weekend dosing of animals as part of study protocols.
  • Conduct health checks to ensure animal welfare and identify any concerns.
  • Carry out tissue harvests at later time points based on study requirements.
  • Prepare and perform formulations for dosing studies.
  • Oversee breeding programs, including monitoring litters and documenting outcomes.
  • Assist with cage changes and husbandry tasks as needed.
  • Processing time-sensitive biological samples.
  • Perform cell culture work to support in vitro studies and downstream analysis

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Biology, Pharmacology, Animal Science, or related field with minimum 4 years relevant experience in an industry setting.
• AALAS certification at the ALAT level is preferred. LVT qualification is a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed, is a must.
• Prior experience necessary in handling compounds for formulation preparation, with a strong emphasis on safety and proficiency in performing necessary calculations.
• Strong experience in animal handling is required, including compound administration by multiple routes, harvesting tissue and blood samples, and performing necropsy techniques. Experience with surgical techniques is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in culturing mammalian cell lines is advantageous.
• Experience with pharmacodynamics assays of mouse tissue, including Western Blotting, ELISA/Mesoscale and flow cytometry is a plus, but not required.
• Willingness to learn new benchwork skills, including sample processing and cell culture.
