Monte Rosa Therapeutics is seeking passionate Research Associate, Biology to help us to eliminate disease causing proteins through targeted protein degradation–a novel and exciting way of drugging proteins that until recently were considered un-druggable.  The candidates will gain hands-on experience within a particular area of interest in an early-stage drug discovery environment. You will work with an industry leader who will direct and mentor you on your project, as well as expose you to other drug discovery projects and involve you in the process of solving complex biological questions.  You will be joining a diverse, thoughtful, fun and collaborative environment that emphasizes teamwork and putting people first!

If you have an interest in any of the following areas noted below, we will give you hands-on educational experience within a high paced Drug discovery environment.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design of plasmids (molecular cloning) and lentiviral particles to produce stable cell lines.
  • Use immunofluorescence (IF) microscopy to visualize the localization of the constructs and compare with co-localization of well-established cellular markers. Use fluorescence microscopy to quantify target degradation.
  • Use Western blot to cross compare the degradation efficiency of different targets.
  • Collaborate with different teams within the company, attend and present data at team and project meetings.

Qualifications

  • Our preference is for a student currently in a master’s degree program in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a life science field.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Strong desire to learn the most advanced approaches in drug discovery and targeted protein degradation.
  • Previous experience with mammalian cell culture, molecular biology / cellular techniques (e.g. Western Blot, IF, DNA extraction, PCR) are required. Prior experience with generation of a variety of mammalian cell lines (working under BSL2 standards) and sequencing is desirable.
  • Is a fast learner and enjoys working in a team-based environment.
