Overview

Monte Rosa Therapeutics is seeking an experienced operations professional to lead and coach the office and lab operations teams in Boston and Basel. Important for this role are a working knowledge and appreciation of research and development strategies and processes, laboratory operations, lab regulatory requirements, budgeting and resource management. Working closely with our scientists, administrators, and executive leadership, this will provide crucial support in managing daily operations, administrative tasks, and logistical functions. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless functioning of the office environment, supporting lab operations, and enabling efficient workflow within a cutting-edge, fast-paced scientific setting. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective collaboration and partnership across all levels in the company and leverage their experience in research and business operations to provide input and guidance to support the organization.

Responsibilities

Lead and coach the Operations teams in Boston and Basel to support facility planning, operation and maintenance, EH&S, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and general lab/scientific support

 

Ensure compliance with biological and chemical lab safety rules and regulations by working with lab operations team in developing and maintaining internal safety guidelines and procedures, as well as coordinate and deliver appropriate training

 

Facilitate lab functionality by supervising a lab operations team in Boston and Basel, coordinating equipment maintenance, managing inventory, assisting with ordering common research supplies, assist with scientific equipment purchases and oversee facilities upgrades to allow for equipment installs or upgrades.

 

Assist in any new lab set up and collaborate with laboratory safety consultants to ensure compliance.

 

Work with ACF team to ensure vivarium is compliant with all relevant regulations

 

Assist in capital planning by developing and implementing facility and scientific equipment investment and maintenance plans that support achievement of corporate objectives

 

Define and maintain the budget for R&D and G&A Operations in alignment with Monte Rosa’s business goals

 

Lead the generation of operational efficiencies and costs savings through vendor management and procurement strategy

 

Manage facility capital projects from concept to completion including programming, design, bidding and construction to successful completion

 

Develop and maintain strategic space utilization plans to ensure optimal business efficiency and flexibility

 

Oversite and monitoring front- and back-office operations personnel to insure a high level of support is provided to all levels of the broader Monte Rosa team. Developing and promoting policies that ensure positive interaction between administrative staff and other personnel

 

Work collaboratively and lead office support staff to maintain the daily workflow of administrative tasks at executive levels as well as other business leaders through proactive collaborative planning and execution of administrative support to ensure a seamless experience for leadership and their respective teams

 

Oversite of the administrative support team whose duties include but not limited to executive support, office operations, event planning, internal and external communications support, and special ad-hoc projects

 

Proactively identify opportunities across the organization to streamline existing processes/operations; implement agreed upon solutions

Promote effective, accurate and timely communication of key operational topics across the organization

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in a life science or similar relevant field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in directing laboratory and office operations; managing multiple projects, budgets and timelines in pharma or biotech
  • In-depth knowledge and broad understanding of research operations management and relevant technologies
  • Successful record of managing complex research organizations
  • Proven and effective cross-functional leadership as demonstrated by line/project management or multi-disciplinary program management
  • Collaborative leadership style facilitating communication and alignment
  • Effect change agent promoting alignment and implementing coordinated transitions while maintaining performance.
